The Red Seat Gets a Little Love from Axios Boston

The Red Seat Gets a Little Love from Axios Boston

Well, this was a nice surprise.

Mike Deehan at Axios Boston recently wrote a piece about The Red Seat, our history, and the sometimes questionable emotional investment that comes with being a Boston sports fan.

We talked about how it all started after the disastrous 2003 ALCS, when we made a handful of "God hates us" shirts for friends because the usual souvenir-shop offerings weren't quite capturing the mood. Those shirts led to more designs, a website in 2004, and eventually the collection of shirts, prints, calendars, and other Boston sports oddities we make today.

Mike also highlighted some of our designs, including I Loathe Pinstripes, I enjoy Boston sports., our Fenway-inspired art prints, and the Monster Scoreboard Turners Union.

As Mike put it in the article:

"The Red Seat ... goes for the inside joke instead of the souvenir stand."

Which is a pretty good description of what we've been trying to do all along.

Thanks to Mike and Axios Boston for taking the time to tell our story. It's especially nice to have someone recognize the thought, history, and occasional heartbreak behind the designs.
