The Boston Hunters are officially here.
Yesterday, the Women's Pro Baseball League unveiled the names and logos for its four inaugural teams, including Boston's newest baseball team. As lifelong Boston baseball fans, our first thought was pretty predictable: we should make a shirt. Obviously.
The Hunters are named after Harriot K. Hunt, who was denied admission to Harvard Medical School because she was a woman and built one of the country's first successful medical practices anyway. Good name for a baseball team. The osprey logo doesn't hurt either.
The league opens August 1 in Springfield, Illinois, with the Hunters taking the field August 2 against the San Francisco Firebells. The inaugural season plays at a neutral site before teams move to their home cities.
